GLB Export works great!

How do Meshy credits even work? I snagged some Realistic 3D Models and was able to export them as GLB files right away. The daily allowance was enough for what I needed, which was awesome.

meshy is so cool, but one tiny thing...

hey everyone, has anyone tried meshy ai for 3d models? i'm seriously blown away! i used it to get some stylized 3d models and the results were just incredible. it's so quick and the quality is fantastic, totally beats trying to make them from scratch. i even got some pbr maps that look amazing. the daily credit allowance for new users is super generous too, which is awesome. my only tiny nitpick is i'm still figuring out how to cancel my subscription if i ever needed to, it's not immediately obvious on the site. but honestly, i'm definitely recommending this to all my friends and i'll be back for more models for sure!

API Access is quick!

Anyone else using the API Access to generate models? I was really impressed with how quickly I could get a 3D model, sometimes in less than 30 seconds. Plus, with the daily credits, it feels like I'm really stretching my dollar.

meshy is pretty good for 3d stuff

so i've been messing around with a few AI art programs, like leonardo ai for images, but i needed something for 3d models. meshy came up and i tried it out, mostly for realistic 3d models. the daily credit allowance is a bit of a bummer when you're really getting into it, but the quality of the models it generates is genuinely impressive. i wish they had a clearer refund policy on unused credits though, that's my only real gripe. otherwise, it's a solid tool and i'd recommend giving it a shot.

Pretty good for quick character generation

My experience last week with Meshy AI was mostly positive. I was playing around with the Character Generation and found it pretty intuitive to use. The daily credit allowance for new users is decent for trying things out, but I did notice that promo codes for subscription plans can't be stacked, which is a minor bummer if you have a couple. Exports for my 3D models were available in OBJ and FBX, which worked great with my other software.

Text to 3D Model worked great!

Text to 3D Model output was surprisingly good for the free credits; considering a subscription now.

Decent for quick models, but watch the credits

I was really curious about Meshy AI after seeing some cool stuff on Instagram, especially with their Texture Painting feature. Generating a low poly model was surprisingly fast, often just a few minutes which is awesome when you're in a hurry. The daily credit allowance for new users is a nice touch to try things out, but I burned through mine quicker than expected when I was playing around with a few different designs. I found their credit system a bit confusing at first, and it felt like I was constantly checking how much I had left. It's a solid tool, but I wish the credit management was more straightforward.

Great for Quick Asset Generation

I was checking out Meshy AI last week for some environment assets and was pretty impressed. The GLB export worked perfectly, and I liked playing around with the daily credit allowance they give new users. It would be nice if there was a clear refund policy for unused credits, but overall, it's a solid tool.

Pretty good for quick models!

I grabbed a 25% off coupon for Meshy AI when signing up for a subscription, and it made the whole package feel much more reasonable. I mostly use it for quick UV Unwrapping and STL Export, which it handles surprisingly well. The credit system is a bit confusing at first, since you get a daily allowance but then also purchase credits, but it's manageable. My only minor nitpick is that sometimes the UV maps aren't perfectly optimized, requiring a small manual tweak.

Is the Meshy student discount worth it?

Yeah, it's pretty decent. I got like 30% off my Pro plan for a year. Just had to verify my student ID.

If you're going to use it for a lot of projects, definitely. Otherwise, the free tier or just buying credits might be enough.

Thinking of trying Meshy for character generation, specifically for stylized low-poly stuff. Anyone had good results with that or is it better for realistic models?

M MayaUser 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Honestly, for stylized low-poly characters, I find I still need to do quite a bit of retopo and cleanup in Blender after exporting from Meshy. The auto-retopology is okay, but not perfect for game-ready assets straight out of the box. For realistic stuff, it's surprisingly good though!

M MayaUser 1 month ago
Still a time saver compared to sculpting from scratch though.
0
G GameDevRahul 1 month ago
That's what I was afraid of. Was hoping to skip some of that manual work.
0
P PixelArtist 1 month ago
Same. The texturing is usually spot on, but the mesh itself needs work.
0
P PixelArtist 1 month ago
I've had pretty mixed results with stylized characters. It *can* do it, but sometimes the proportions get a bit wonky, or it adds details I didn't ask for. It's really good for props though, especially if you feed it good image references.
5
A AdityaM 1 month ago
Yeah, I noticed that with some of the text-to-3D prompts. It struggles with specific art styles sometimes.
8
G GameDevRahul 1 month ago
Any tips for getting better stylized outputs?
8
V VoxelGuy 1 month ago
I used it for some voxel art characters recently and it worked surprisingly well! The key was very descriptive prompts about the 'blocky' nature I wanted. Might be worth experimenting with that if you're aiming for a low-poly look.
8
A AdityaM 1 month ago
Following this. Might try that for my next project.
2
G GameDevRahul 1 month ago
Interesting! Never thought of using it for voxel. Good idea.

Hey, does Meshy offer like, a free trial or something? Wanna test it out before committing to a plan.

C Chris Silva 2 months ago
Yeah, they give you some free credits daily to try it out. Enough to play around with a few generations.
4
R Rachel 1 month ago
You get a daily allowance of credits without paying anything. It's not a 'trial' in the usual sense but lets you kick the tires for sure.

Just got my annual subscription renewal notice for Meshy Pro, and the price jumped quite a bit. Anyone else seeing higher renewal costs this year or is it just me?

K Karan88 2 months ago ✓ Best Answer
I switched to monthly because of this exact concern. Annual felt too risky with potential price changes. Credits still roll over, so it works out for my usage.
11
K Karan88 2 months ago
Usually, but for me, the flexibility is worth it. No surprises.

A Ankit77 2 months ago

1
P PriyaK 2 months ago
Good point. Monthly is more flexible.
4
S Sneha22 2 months ago
Mine stayed the same, actually. I renewed in December though, maybe it depends on when your cycle started? Or if you used a specific promo code initially?
5
R RajatS 2 months ago
Hmm, mine is due next month. Will keep an eye out.
8
S Sneha22 2 months ago
Could be. I got in on a Black Friday deal last year.

Yeah, I noticed that too! My Pro plan went up by about 15%. I thought maybe the early adopter pricing was just ending, but it felt like a significant hike.
2
D DeepakG 2 months ago
Did you check if there's any new features justifying it? Haven't seen any major announcements.

Same here. I was on an old plan, maybe that's why?

Can I use a promo code if I'm already getting the annual discount? Or is it one or the other?

T Troy D. 2 months ago
Nah, generally you can only use one coupon per purchase. Like, the annual discount is already a deal.

pretty sure promo codes don't stack. if you're getting the annual discount, that's your main saving for that period.

Thinking of trying Meshy for some game assets. Is it really any good compared to like, Luma AI or Kaedim?

R Renee 2 months ago
I've used it for a few props and it's pretty decent, especially for quick concepts. I wouldn't say it's worlds better than Luma for every single thing, but the texturing in Meshy is solid.
3
P Priya Reyes 2 months ago
For game dev, I found Meshy's exports to be cleaner sometimes. Less cleanup needed than some other platforms I tried, though it really depends on what you're trying to generate. It's worth trying their free credits to see if it fits your workflow.

how accurate are the models for text to 3D? like, if I describe a specific sci-fi weapon, will it actually make something usable?

T Tom J. 2 months ago
It's surprisingly good for general ideas. For very specific, intricate details, you might need to iterate a few times or do some touch-ups in a 3D editor. But it gets you 80% there usually.
5
J James C. 2 months ago
I've had mixed results. Simple objects are great. Complex, highly detailed stuff can be hit or miss. It's a good starting point but don't expect it to perfectly read your mind every time for super niche prompts.
